“Using my own life as a vehicle to educate others is what I wanted to do.”

Listen to Episode #313 Now

Deb Barnes is an award-winning author and blogger who currently serves as president of the Cat Writers’ Association, and as secretary of the board for Pawsitively Humane in Miami, Florida. Deb and her fiancé have seven cats. As a very shy kid, cats and books were Deb’s safe place, and she credits both with helping her to find her voice.

Deb began writing at an early age, but it wasn’t until a layoff in 2008 that she began writing about cats. Her initial work led her to learn about overpopulation, spay/neuter and other cat welfare topics, and eventually, things snowballed until she found she had become a huge feline advocate and educator.

Deb and Stacy also talk at length about what the Cat Writers’ Association is all about, including the resources the group can offer to cat welfare groups.

To learn more about Deb Barnes and to find her blog, visit The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey. You can find all three of Deb’s books there as well. Visit the Cat Writers’ Association website for more information about that group—and Deb encourages you to consider joining as well!
